Literacy, ESL, HSE/GED & Citizenship classes are offered throughout the year. Individual tutoring is available when volunteer tutors are available to meet with students on a one-to-one basis. Please contact the SPCALC office for more information.

Basic Literacy
Individual tutoring or group instruction is available for students who wish to improve their basic listening, speaking, reading, writing, mathematical, or computer skills needed to solve the problems encountered in daily life. To locate a class or tutor, please contact the SPCALC or your community library.
ESL Literacy
Individual tutoring or group instruction is available for non-native speakers of English wishing to improve their basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English. To locate a class or tutor, please contact the SPCALC or your community library.
Distant Learning GED
GED testing site is offered in cooperation with Del Mar College. Education Service Center Region-2, in Corpus Christi has partnered with SPCALC in providing additional ESL, GED/HiSet classes in San Patricio County. They also offer distance learning classes. This program is for non-traditional students who cannot attend regularly-scheduled GED class meetings, or students who would like additional one-to-one tutoring to prepare for a high school equivalency test.
To register for Distant-Learning GED Classes, please contact the SPCALC, Education Service Center, or register at your local library.
Citizenship Preparation Classes
Instruction and review is available for students wishing to prepare for United States Citizenship processing. Call the SPCALC office or your community library for more information. 361-587-3536
Classes are funded in part by the United Way of the Coastal Bend, Coastal Bend Community Foundation, individual donors, and our annual Scrabble Tournament for Literacy fundraising events.
